“Here, our new-generation, on-site oxygen production unit offers another advantage,” says Benjamin. “Our unique cryogenic system is more reliable than pressure-swing absorption. It's also more compact.” Alessandro nods: “And just in case there are any teething difficulties, we have contingency plans to deliver oxygen by truck. Continuity of supply is guaranteed at Air Liquide.”

In Brazil, too, the Group is working with Verallia to upgrade its furnaces. As an important step toward making glass manufacturing carbon neutral, Air Liquide has completed preliminary tests with another partner to replace natural gas with hydrogen. “But before we start talking about H2,” Andrea jokes, “can I offer anyone some more H2O?”
